Multi-Media Artists
Painter / Sculpture
Jewels Art Canada
I am a Northern Ontario artist best known for unique sculptural, multimedia, and impasto interpretation of landscapes and nature scenes - layered and entwined with and an artists' eye and spirit. In some of my works, I embed actual organic material such as Lake Superior driftwood, stones, leaves, birch bark and twigs bringing the natural world into my pieces. I explore how the permanence of resin over my pieces not only enhances the colour, it gives them a glass-like timeless finish. I was born and raised and still reside in Goulais River, nestled between the Searchmont Mountains and Lake Superior. Drawn by my love of the natural world I studied both Fine Art and Psychology in order to deepen my knowledge and understanding of the world around me. My work reflects my connection and relationship with the Mother Nature, education, and a life time of exploration and experimentation.
Digital Media / Painter
Isabelle Michaud
Isabelle Michaud is a francophone visual artist who has exhibited in Mississauga, London, Blind River, and Kerns Township and has recently launched a virtual creation and exhibition space inside her studio space in Sault Ste. Marie/Baawaating. Isabelle Michaud's work delves into the multifaceted surface qualities of the quotidien and the domestic. Her eclectic work in digital media, painting, and drawing plunges into the depth of her inner interconnections to nature, history, and identity. Isabelle's research-based cross disciplinary approach leads her to explore materials and ways of doing and making in many different forms and media.
